What a fun and exciting weekend at the HHH!

Jeriah and Audrey flew in on Friday evening, so Todd and I went down to pick them up.  We stopped for dinner in Ft. Collins and then got home around 9pm.  We hung out and caught up on everything and everyone.

Saturday we got up early and headed to the mountains.  Before the mountains though, we had to get our visitors outfitted to be in the "Forever West!" (WY motto).  We went to the Boot Barn, where Todd got a new cowboy hat!  (Looks very nice on him I must say!!) and Jeriah, Audrey and I got new boots!!  So, we were outfitted in our new gear and headed west.  We went to Medicine Bow National Forest where the Snowy Mountains are.  WOW!  They are beautiful and still very snowy!   We played in the snow, had a snow ball fight, the boys went skiing in their boots down the hill....Took a ton of pictures and enjoyed the scenery and the weather.   They still have a lot of snow on them, as most of the "off-the-road" roads were closed with 7 feet of snow on the entrances!   We ate lunch in Centennial, WY and explored the mountain, where we could of course.

After the mountains we headed back down to Laramie and went to the old prison there.  It was very neat to read about the inmates that served there at one time.  To read that they had to serve a year or two for stealing $2 was pretty amazing.  It was also the prison that housed Butch Cassidy at one time.  They had it set up very nicely and you got the full effect of the old prison.  The inmates at one time were required to make brooms, and they had the factory set up for the broom making.  In the gift shop they still have items that are made by current prisoners to teach them trades and help them develop a skill for when they are out of prison.  Some of the items were license plate lunch boxes, bird houses, place mats.  I thought it was a very great idea.  After that we were homeward bound, we took the scenic route back through another national forest and Curt Gowdy State Park, which is the closest lake to us.

Sunday was a relax and continue to turn our visitors into cowboys! hahaha...We went for a tour of the base here, which in my opinion is the neatest base I have ever been to…So much history on it, and so historical. After our tour, Todd got Jeriah and Audrey on the war path for ground squirrels and prairie dogs!  It was great!   Jeriah shot his first animal ever, and could not get enough of it!   So, after ALL the animals were shell shocked and hiding in their holes, we got out the Hillbilly Poker.   Took a deck of cards and put them on a target and played poker in teams.  Girls against boys, each person got four shots and the team with the best five cards hit won.  Best three out of five hands, yea the girls won.  We finished the evening with ribs and went to bed.

Monday we had to take our guests to the airport :(  We had a great time with them, and not sure when we will see them again which is sad.   They are great friends and we have great times, however they are moving to Pennsylvania, so we will have to go visit them when they get settled. We tried to convince them that Wyoming was the place to move to!!!  We came home and had a lounge day on the couch.  Something we haven't been able to do for over a month!  Three movies later, and a three hour nap, we were ready for bed, and off to work for the next day.

Maybe this weekend, we will go explore some more of our Forever West state!  I suggested to Todd he surprise me with a weekend somewhere, so I'll keep you posted!
